Ch 5-Free Enterprise System

Chapter 5 goes over the Free Enterprise System and our economy.  This chapter is a short unit/chapter, because we only go over 1 section of chapter 5.  This unit essentially summarizes our economy as a nation, and the activity you go through (Playing Monopoly, but by Paige's rules)  will demonstrate the various types of economies:  Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism.  This will allow you to see first hand the amount of government involvement and influence that they have on societies. 

First Unit...Check.

Well, we finished our first unit of Marketing, covering chapters 1 & 2.  We tested on ExamView, and you'll be getting your notebooks back.  Chapter 2.2 covered Market Segmentation, and why it's so important to have a target market.  We'll begin our next unit, which will cover chapter 5, the Free Enterprise System. 

Let's Get Our Feet a Lil' Wet With Marketing...

In class, we discussed DECA club, it's importance, and how it's a great learning tool and benefit to you, as students.  It provides you excellent networking opportunities, scholarship opportunities, as well as some fun competition experiences as well. 

We also started dipping our feet into the pool of water we call marketing!  We started off by the Chapter 1.1 Powerpoint.  I handed out the listening guides, but they are available here as well.  Be sure to get into your book and take care of your vocab and EOS ?'s for the entire chapter.  :) 

We also went over the DEW Tour & DECA stuff today as well.  You, students, will be working on a promotion and marketing plan for Alli Sports.  I've broken you into teams of 4 or 5 students.  Over the next week, you will come up with a marketing plan.   Realize, that not only are you competing against 3 other schools, but you're competing against other groups in class, and my other marketing class.  Good luck, and have fun.  By the way, I need to mention, not only will the winning group have their marketing plan used, but there will be a ton of Professional Development points given, and free, yes, FREE, DEW Tour tickets given away.  :P
